Coronavirus (COVID-19) Frequently Asked Questions

Last Updated: May 14, 2020

As Coronavirus (COVID-19) has become an evolving and uncertain public health issue affecting nations across the globe, we wanted to answer some of your questions regarding the continuity of your procurement needs amidst the pandemic.

If you have a question that you don’t see here, please email us at marketing@jsferarro.com.

What changes can we expect from a sourcing standpoint?

We are seeing large backlogs of cattle and hogs at facilities as disruptions to the supply chain continue due to COVID-19. Companies that have been brand-specific or grade-specific may have to supplement as inventory levels continue to shrink.  Packers continue to show very little product, and when they do, they’re charging full price. Anything above and beyond is being sold at an overage to USDA. The situation is ever-evolving, please connect with an Account Manager to talk through your procurement need

Will there be delays in securing product during this time?

We are working hard to ensure the procurement needs of our clients are being met. As of right now, we are not facing any delays to securing product but that can change as more plants shut down due to the virus. Please keep an open dialogue with your Account Manager to stay abreast of market conditions and supply availability.

What can I do to ensure my procurement needs are met?

Although it’s difficult to plan based on the rapid evolution of the COVID-19 story, carrying a small excess of inventory through this time can help to minimize potential delays in the supply chain. If you have further questions on protecting your business’ procurement needs, reach out to your Account Manager for more details.

What changes can we expect from a logistics standpoint?

Right now, there are no changes from a logistics standpoint. Our internal team has been diligent in working with our partners to ensure your fulfillment needs are met.

Will there be any changes to J.S. Ferraro's office hours?

No, there will not be any changes to our office hours at this time. They will remain 8:00AM – 4:30PM Monday to Friday.

Where can I get updates regarding Coronavirus?

For further information on this evolving story, we suggest using governmental and NGOs such as: the Public Health Agency of Canada, the World Health Organization and Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidance for responding to Coronavirus.
