Toronto, ON, March 5, 2018 – JSF Group Inc. has announced the appointment of Alexander (Xander) Cave as its new CEO. He will assume responsibilities effective immediately and will succeed founder John Ferraro, who, after 30 years at the helm, has stepped down to pursue various philanthropic interests, namely the JS Ferraro Charitable Foundation focused on improving global food security.
Cave has been part of the JSF Group team for over 6 years, starting as a Commodity Risk Manager with Retail Ready, before working very closely with John Ferraro to create and grow J.S. Ferraro & Company, where he has been Managing Director since 2016. During that time, he has been responsible for overall company performance, strategic direction and client relationships. Says Ferraro, “It has become very clear Xander has the knowledge and skills to lead the businesses into the future. I’m very happy to have Xander succeed me and excited to see the evolution of the humble business I started in 1988.”

Growing up working on his family’s farm raising cattle and apple trees ingrained both a work ethic and an understanding of the agri industry. Cave brought that work ethic with him to McGill, where he completed a BA in Economics and then his Canadian Securities Course (CSC), Series 7 and CFA certifications. Cave is a results-driven leader with broad and extensive trading experience, a penchant for economics and a curiosity for internal market dynamics. His success is grounded in his ability to develop authentic relationships across the meat and livestock industry that inform his ability to effectively manage margins and reduce risk for all his clients.
